This is my blog dedicated to New Orleans & Louisiana cooking! I'll give links to great Creole & Cajun recipes and sites, as well as some of my own recipes. I love talkin' New Orleans, food and otherwise! Incidentally, I'm from Detroit. Go Figure. Lets just say I figured out "what it means, to miss New Orleans" and this site helps ease the pain.

The Marie Laveau Portrait
Every time I visit New Orleans, I find myself drawn back down the rabbit hole of Marie Laveau. The sheer mystery of her history captivates me. especially the fact that no verifiable portraits or photographs of her exist, leaving her likeness entirely to the imagination.
Aside from being a chef, I'm a painter. I’ve always wanted to paint Marie the way she comes to me, rather than relying on the famous Cabildo portrait, which likely isn't her anyway. After my latest trip, I finally did.
This painting is my Marie, capturing the allure and magic I feel whenever I think of her. She’s easily my favorite piece I’ve ever created, and she’s taking a permanent spot in my kitchen to inspire my cooking.
I’ve always run Nola Cuisine purely for the love of it, without advertisements. If you enjoy the site and like this portrait, purchasing a print is a wonderful way to support my work as a chef, writer, and painter. Hang it in your own kitchen as a nod to the mystical roots of Creole history and the flavors that define New Orleans.
Purchase this 8x10 Print of Marie Laveau on linen cardstock for just $30 plus tax (free shipping)!
Be sure and check out my Creole & Cajun Recipe Page as well as my Bibliography of Creole & Cajun Cookbooks!
